New eruption north of the glacier!

New Eruptions began in the “Hole-lava” (Holuhrauni) north of Vatnajökull, about five a clock this morning. The eruption is lava eruption, bigger than last time but on the same crack. The eruption crack is about 1,6 up to 2,4 mile long and extends more northwards then the crack early on Friday.

Ármann Höskuldsson volcanologist was standing about two kilometers away from the crack when the media spoke to him this morning. He says that high activity in the eruption and estimates that the lava flow is 10-20 times more than the eruption early on Friday.


Civil Defense
have decided to keep dangerous level alive, but when the first eruption in this area was, it ware declared an emergency level. The IMO has swished color coded in red and banned flights over the eruption site.

This is the third eruption of Bárðarbunga region in just over a week. On Saturday, August 23 eruption under a glacier on the slopes Bárðarbunga, the eruption was short-lived and did not melt through thick ice. A few days later were themselves boilers eruption, reflecting the eruption. Friday eve was a small eruption of lava blowout north Vatajökuls, lasting for 3-4 hours. The eruption on the slopes Bárðarbunga is believed to have been about ten times larger than the eruption of “Hole-Lava”.

A little earthquake activity has been at Bárðarbunga area this morning, compared to the situation last days. Almost no eruption turmoil were measured. Bad weather is the eruption site, and difficult to detect eruptions of webcams for fog and light sand blowing around.
